Frequently asked questions

Total Recall is a private, single-owner second brain. It collects the things you already deal with every day (documents, notes, emails, texts, meetings, the people you know, your health data) into one place, and lets you ask questions about all of it in plain language. Think of it as a memory that never forgets and that you can talk to. See the overview.

theo is the agent built on your brain, the intelligence you actually talk to. Total Recall is the brain (the memory and synthesis layer); theo is how you use it. theo is at full strength in the theo app, comes along in messaging channels like Telegram and Slack, and your brain can also plug into any AI you already use (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini).

Is my data private? Is it mixed with other people’s?

Section titled “Is my data private? Is it mixed with other people’s?”

No. One brain belongs to one person. Your information is never combined with anyone else’s. Total Recall is built private-first; see Backups & privacy for how your data is stored and protected.

Anything you’d ask someone who remembered your whole life, for example:

  • “Summarize everything I know about Jane and her company.”
  • “What did we decide last week about pricing?”
  • “Pull the action items from my last call with the design team.”
  • “What’s quietly driving my best months?”

See Search & retrieval.

From sources you connect: your documents and notes, email, messages, Slack, meetings, calendar, health data, and more. You choose what to bring in. See the full list on the Features page.

Yes. See Using it from your phone.

Does it just store things, or does it think?

Section titled “Does it just store things, or does it think?”

Both. Beyond answering questions, it produces a daily brief and runs synthesis across everything it knows, surfacing patterns and blind spots, and it can take action when you want it to.

Pricing is being finalized. See the Plans page for what’s included at each tier.

Plans and setup details are on the Plans page. If you have a specific question, the Capabilities docs in the sidebar cover each feature in plain language.
