Terms

Terms of service.

Plain language, because you should actually read the terms of a product that remembers your life. Using Total Recall or theo means you agree to these.

Effective date: July 12, 2026

The service

Total Recall sets up and operates software that gives you a private, single-owner knowledge base (your "brain") and an AI assistant (theo) that uses it. The brain runs in accounts you own: your database provider, your hosting provider, and your AI provider accounts. We provide the software, the setup, the app you use it through, and support.

Your data and your accounts

Your content belongs to you, full stop. It lives in infrastructure under your own logins, and our privacy policy describes the little we hold ourselves. You are responsible for the third-party accounts the service runs on (database, hosting, AI providers), including their costs and their terms. If you stop paying those providers, your brain stops running; that is between you and them, though we will help you handle it.

Payment

Total Recall is a paid service. Prices are shown before you commit, and connected integrations (like our Slack app) are included in your subscription rather than billed separately. Third-party infrastructure costs in your own accounts are yours and are estimated honestly during setup.

Acceptable use

Connect only accounts and data you have the right to connect. Do not use the service to violate laws, other people's privacy, or the terms of the platforms you connect (Slack, Google, Notion, and the rest). One brain belongs to one person; do not resell or share access to yours.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work to keep the service reliable, honest about its limits, and safe by architecture. But the service is provided "as is": we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and AI assistants can be wrong, so verify anything consequential before acting on it. To the maximum extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Ending things

You can stop any time: export your data, tear down your infrastructure (our guides cover both), and cancel. We may suspend or end service for breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Because your data is in your accounts, ending the relationship never holds your memory hostage.

Changes and contact

If these terms change materially, we will update this page and its effective date and let active customers know. Questions:support@totalrecallhq.com.
